One of the most critical choices a parent has to make is choosing the linen for a baby bed. Most infants spend the major part of their first six months in their cribs. Therefore, it is essential to choose comfortable and secure linens. If your baby is safe and comfortable, you will get more rest since you will have one less thing to worry about.

A parent may feel babylag after having his or her sleep disrupted by a new infant. When you are sleep deprived, you will find moments when you are unable to concentrate, and you may have difficulty processing your thoughts. This can make you respond slower to some situations. Therefore, you want to make sure that your baby’s crib is equipped with the right baby bedding to help him or her sleep comfortably.

Pure cotton bedding with a good thread count can produce a comfortable sleep for your baby. In addition, you can add a thick blanket or sleeper to keep your baby warm on those cold nights. However, the blanket should not be too thick to prevent accidental suffocation.

Some bed linen will help stimulate the baby’s advancement. For instance, colorful patterns or designs can stimulate a baby’s eye movements. You can choose from animal prints, cartoon characters or neon to pastel colors. You can match the crib linens with the decor of the room for a more uniform look.

The baby cribs should meet the basic standards, but the crib attire should be of high standards as well. The quality of the crib’s attire can be a factor for the baby’s health and safety. Therefore, you should consider some factors when choosing these items. The crib attire includes the mattress, pillows, pillowcases, bed sheets, blankets and other items that are placed in the crib. You should look for 100 percent cotton products that are durable, comfortable and washable. The bed sheets should fit the crib mattress snugly to prevent slippage and suffocation. When a sheet does not fit snugly, the baby can get caught up in the sheet making it unsafe and uncomfortable. Therefore, you will want to choose fitted sheets that are equipped with elastic to hold them in place on the mattress. Bed sheets or other attire should be stain proof to make them look and last longer. The crib mattress should fit properly in the crib to prevent the baby from slipping between the sides of the mattress and the crib. By choosing the baby’s crib attire wisely, you can experience less babylag and be more alert to your baby’s needs the next day.

Equipping the nursery with the proper crib and attire can become costly. Some people will consider using old cribs to save on the cost of a new crib. However, this is not the best method to choose since the older cribs may be unhealthy for your baby. The older cribs may include toxic lead paint, which can pose a health issue for your baby. In addition, the bars on an older crib may be placed too far apart for safety, and some of the older cribs have bars that are too low making it easier for the baby to climb out. The older cribs are not made with the safety standards that are seen in the newer cribs today. If your baby’s sleeping environment is unhealthy and unsafe, your baby will be at risk. Therefore, cheaper is not always better.
