Kids parties are a great part of growing up for children – they’re definitely better than adult parties without question! Plus, you’re free to be a big kid with them and have fun too. Obviously you’ll want to make your child’s party awesome and memorable – but how can you do that? How can you make it so good that all of your kid’s friends will talk about it at school for weeks to come? Easy! Read on for ideas and tips:

Choose a Theme The Kids Will Love

Having a theme will help when it comes to buying the decorations, the food, and organising the games. Cartoon character parties are popular, just think about what your kid’s favourite film/program/cartoon character is. If you like, you can sit down and brainstorm ideas with your child and then go to the shop to see what kind of things you can actually find. For example, you could do a Spongebob Squarepants themed party, with pineapple decorations and ‘under the sea’ themed decoration/food.

Add Some Special Features

Special features are what will make the party memorable for the kids. There are loads of different things you can try depending on your child’s preferences, why not try:

  • Hiring a bouncy castle? Adults and children love bouncy castles and it’s sure to be a hit.

  • Hiring a photo booth? A photo booth with fun pictures that the kids can take away will definitely impress. You can hire a photo booth in Reading from Virtual Booth if you live nearby.

  • Hiring a chocolate fondue set? The kids will love making a mess with runny chocolate, marshmallows, and sweets!

  • Hiring a clown? Just make sure none of the children are scared of them first!

  • Making it a pool party? This should only be on a sunny day (unless you’re lucky enough to have an indoor pool), just make sure the kids are supervised at all times!

  • Setting up a treasure hunt? The kids will love hunting for treasure, even more so if they get to keep what they find!

Remember, it’s special features that will make the party awesome!

Give Every Child a Party Bag

A party bag to take home is an absolute must! Kids love these goody bags even though they’re usually filled with rubbish. You could put in:

  • Mini bags of sweets and bars of chocolate.

  • Lollipops.

  • A piece of cake.

  • Mini toys like crazy bones, tamagotchi’s, etc.

  • Pens and pencils.

  • Colouring books.

  • You could even get the children involved by asking them to make their own party favours! They could design their own t-shirt, make masks, badges, and more.

Use your imagination! You can also give the children a balloon or two to take home, which will also save you a bit of time cleaning up.

The older the children are, the more free time you should allow them as they’ll probably want to do their own thing for most of the party – so if they’re at the age where they know what they want to do and when they want to do it, don’t plant too many activities. Have fun planning your party and the kids will have fun being there!
